Materials/Methods:
A prospective study of 200 postoperative eyes where uncomplicated phacoemulsification cataract surgery had been performed through clear corneal incisions over a period of 8 months. Only eyes that were examined within 2 hours of completion of surgery were included. Slit lamp examination utilizing fluorescein was then performed to look for signs of incision incompetence. Anterior segment color photography was used to document the varying patterns of fluorescein staining of the incision and corneal tunnel. IOP was then recorded in all patients using applanation tonometry. The study had full approval from the local and regional research and ethics committees.
