Results:
Bacterial cultures were done with standard media using enriched and selective medium and a gram negative bacilli was isolated in moderate growth from all inoculated medium. The isolate was lactose non- fermenter and was oxidase negative The susceptibility test was performed by Kirby – Bauer disc diffusion method and was found to sensitive only to aminoglycosides (Gentamicin and Amikacin) and ceftaz idime. The isolate was resistant to Chloramphenicol, Ciprofloxacin, Ofloxacin Gatifloxacin , moxifloxacin and was subjected to further identification using the mini API (Analytical Profile Index, bioMerieux, ). An ID 23GN strip was inoculated with a pure culture of the isolate as per manufacturer’s instructions and incubated as per standard protocol. The API score was 99% for the identification of Alcaligenes xylosoxidans.
