About the Presenter:
Dr. Jennifer Lim is a Professor of Ophthalmology and the Medical Director of Clinical Trials at Doheny Eye Institute at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California Department of Ophthalmology, where she is a retina specialist (medical and surgical retina). Her primary research interests are in clinical trials evaluating new treatments for age-related macular degeneration, collaborative research with basic scientists who investigate mechanisms of choroidal neovascularization and translational research pilot trials. She has been or currently is the principal investigator for several clinical trials (including PDT, Eyetech, Acuity, Vertacl, LSOCA, PTAMD, DRCR, AREDS2 and LSOCA). She received her medical degree with distinction from Northwestern University Six –Year Honors Program in Medical Education. She received her Ophthalmology training at the University of Illinois at Chicago Eye and Ear Infirmary (UIC Eye Center) and her medical and surgical retina training at Johns Hopkins Hospital at the Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute. She is a member of the Retina Society, Macula Society, American Society of Retinal Specialists, Women in Ophthalmology and Chinese American Ophthalmology Society (CAOS). She serves on the American Board of Ophthalmology Recertification Examination Committee and previously served on the Ophthalmic Knowledge and Assessment Program Committee for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, is an Associate Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology and a holds committee and board positions in other societies. She is currently the Retina Subcomittee Chairperson of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting Planning Committee, the secretary of Women in Ophthalmology, Chairperson of Retina Society Credentialing Committee, and serves on the Editorial Boards of EyeNet, Eye Exchange Network and Retina Case Series and Brief Reports. She has received the Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Honor Award from the American Society of Retinal Specialists, service awards from CAOS, teaching awards at USC and Best Doctors in America. She has authored or co-authored over 150 articles and 12 book chapters and has edited three books, including a book on Age-related Macular Degeneration, which is currently undergoing the Second Edition.
