Materials/Methods:
This is a retrospective study with 111 eyes of 111 patients undergone ECCE with IOL implantation. All surgeries were performed by a second year resident surgeon at the Hospital Monumento from February to July 2004 All surgeries were performed using an escleral tunnel or near corneal incision, followed by capsulotomy ('Can opener'), IOL insertion in the sulcus or capsular bag when possible, at the end, the incision was closed with single sutures (mononylon 10.0). The complications of the surgeries were reported by the each surgeon.
